After the
overnight flight I landed in Port Moresby. Overnight flights are
never my favourite but it was the only option so it’s take it or
leave it One amazing thing on this
flight was that I was served a steak! Yes, you heard it, a steak!!!!
An eye fillet no less! I was so blown away. Honestly, it was one of
the best steaks I have had in my whole life (no offence Dad) and Air
Nuigini was the airline that provided it. Totally unexpected, that’s
for sure. I waited for a few hours in POM before heading on to Lae.
Chris and Nicole were there at the airport in Lae, which was a very
welcoming sight. Driving ‘home’ to 11 mile sure brought back
loads of memories from my time here in January. I was stunned when I
drove into the Reformed Ministries compound. The houses look amazing
and the garden, what an impressive sight! Much of the garden work
(which you’ll see in another blog) has been done by Pastor Ian and
his helpers on the weekend and it’s incredible how established it
is in such a short time. That is thanks to the tropical sun and rain
– everything grows like a weed! Too bad we don’t have that
problem in Tassie. There, only weeds grow like weeds! Anyway, I’ll
let the photos tell the story.
Enjoy!
Driving into Lae - I love this, no worries to drive 3 cars abreast. The road rules are slightly more flexible.
Hilarious road sign :) So bright and colourful too.
Klina - stongpela sop, gutpela smel! (Cleaner - strong7powerful soap, good/nice smell!)
The truck behind hit the bus..... major traffic jams!
Nicole, Elisabeth and I enjoying a walk around the plantation.
No ken spit! Pikinini! (Don't speed, there's children!) I bet you thought it was no spitting!!!! :)
Down the picturesque driveway.
A daily affair - the mission boys playing soccer, IN THE HEAT!!! Amazing view hey!
The games get pretty intense sometimes.
